NVSC successful with a bid to the lottery

The award of over £425,00 to a partnership led by Newham Voluntary Sector Consortium will ensure that new and small organisations in Newham will continue to receive help with their development over the next three years. In addition, front line support workers who collaborate through the Capacity Builders Working Group, part of the Newham ChangeUp Partnership, will be able to access specific training to enhance their skills.

The latest BIG awards specifically target projects that fill the highest priority gaps in the current voluntary and community sector infrastructure support, ensuring a wide spectrum of organisations can access relevant high-quality assistance.

The current economic climate presents a range of challenges to voluntary and community organisations, including funding uncertainty and increased demand for services.  Helping voluntary and community sector infrastructure organisations to strengthen the support they give has never been so important.

We are delighted that BIG have recognised the needs in Newham, and this funding will enable NVSC, in partnership with Aston Mansfield and the Black & Ethnic Minority Community Care Forum, to deliver capacity building support across a wide range of community organisations who work with some of the most marginalised communities in our borough. This is excellent news for them and recognition of the innovative work that key organisations in Newham have been delivering through the ChangeUp Partnership. This bid will also directly involve the other voluntary sector partners on the Newham ChangeUp Partnership and can only strenghten the support to small groups that they currently offer.

The project will employ three Capacity Builders, who will provide outreach suppport across the borough. The project will also encourage partnership working and provide access to quality training to not only the frontline service providers but to all the organisations who will be involved in the project.

The project will be launched later in the year but work on details has already started.
