Royal Association for Deaf people – BMER (Black, Minority Ethnic and Refugee) Project

The Royal Association for Deaf people has received funding from London Councils to set up a new project specifically for London's Deaf BMER population.

The project provides free advocacy support and advice to Deaf BMER clients delivered by experienced advocates whose first language is British Sign Language (BSL).

The Ekta Project provides befriending and support services to South Asian elders in Newham and neighbouring boroughs. Its main aim is to bring together isolated, mildly depressed, mildly confused, disabled, frail and house bound elders together and provide them with confidence and empowering them to take control of their own lives.
