Third Sector Investment Programme for the Innovation, Excellence and Service Development Fund (England)

The Department of Health has announced that the Third Sector Investment Programme for the Innovation, Excellence and Service Development Fund for 2010-11 is now open for applications. The fund which is open to voluntary organisations providing a service similar to a service provided by the National Health Service or by local authority social services aims to support the work of third sector organisations with a clear focus on supporting and driving forward new ideas, excellence and developments in health and social services.

Projects that are eligible for funding under this scheme must also address one of the following cross cutting themes; information, advice, advocacy and support; personalisation and dignity; community and user involvement and peer support; promoting, supporting and maintaining positive behaviour in terms of health; and reducing inequalities in health.

There is no minimum or maximum funding that organisations can apply for. However under the previous scheme the average grant awarded was around £50,000. There is a two stage application process. Outline proposals need to be submitted by the 4th September 2009. Those organisations that are successful at this stage will be invited to submit detailed applications by the 27th November 2009.
