“DIGNITY” – “A Play on Elder Abuse Awareness”

The Ekta Project provides befriending and support services to South Asian elders in Newham and neighbouring boroughs. Its main aim is to bring together isolated, mildly depressed, mildly confused, disabled, frail and house bound elders together and provide them with confidence and empowering them to take control of their own lives. It runs a network of elderly care groups which are led by the volunteers who are supported by staff. It has projects on Health Awareness, Reminiscence and Elder Abuse Awareness.

Actors Needed

Ekta Project funded by Comic Relief has developed a Play on Elder Abuse Awareness which is written by Paramjit Singh writer/director of Black Chilli Productions and Agitate Films. Ekta Project is looking for volunteer Actors for the Play which after a series of workshops will be premiered later this year. Ekta will cover transport and any other expenses incurred during the workshops and future performances.

The play has a diverse community requirement. Ekta is looking for committed Actors as follows:

2 Asian females 16 to 25

1 White male mid forties

2 Females from 25 to 55 any race

1 Female Afro Caribbean from 50-65
