Sport England Active Women Themed Fund Launched

Deadline for initial applications: 3 February 2010

Sport England’s Active Women Themed Fund aims to get more women from disadvantaged communities, and more women who care for children, playing sport.

Sport England is seeking bids for projects that directly address the challenges women have to overcome if they want to play more sport. These include the following: Time constraints. Childcare. Transport. Cost. Friends to go with. Self-confidence.

Applications will not be awarded under £10,001 but there is no maximum limit. A total of £10 million of National Lottery funding is available for this theme. All bona fide and legitimate organisations with a written constitution (such as a Memorandum and Articles of Association) or statutory powers can apply for this funding. These include sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations, local authorities, education establishments (such as schools, colleges and universities) and national governing bodies of sport.
