			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>SKST has begun a new grants programme, Active Grants. Active Grants are small grants (up to £3,000) to encourage people to get involved in their communities. The programme has two separate strands: for young people and for older people. A key element of the programme is to stimulate and support beneficiaries to take the lead in shaping the project. </p>
<p>The aim of the project is to encourage social cohesion, improve self-confidence and employability in young people; and, to encourage physical and mental activity, decrease isolation and encourage participation in older people.</p>

<p><strong>Modernisation Fund</strong><br />
The Fund helps organisations plan for difficult times ahead, identify issues and opportunities and take action to ensure you are best able to prosper in the coming years. In many cases this means working in collaboration with other organisations or merging together. Interest-free loans of between £30,000 and £500,000 are available to help organisations be more resilient to the impact of the economic downturn.<br />

<p><strong>The Britannia Foundation</strong><br />

Financial assistance is available to support community-led organisations who aim to improve the quality of life in their community. Often groups only need a small amount of money to make a difference to a local facility, be it a community building, nature reserve, cultural facility or outdoor space.  The Small Grants Scheme offers quicker access to lower levels of funding to make these projects happen. Over the past three years, Biffaward has supported nearly 300 projects under the Small Grants Scheme.<br />

<p><strong>East Foundation</strong><br />
This Fund is aimed at organisations and people living in East Thames Group accommodation in East London and Essex. <p><strong>Queen Elizabeth II Fields Fund</strong>2012 marks Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee to ensure that it is celebrated in fitting style, The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge is a fantastic new campaign to protect 2,012 outdoor recreational spaces in communities all across the country as a permanent living legacy of this great event. SITA Trust has joined forces with HRH The Duke of Cambridge and the Fields in Trust to support this challenge. </p>
<p>Once an area has been designated a Queen Elizabeth II Field an application can be made to SITA Trust’s £1 million fund for improvements to the recreation area. For more information on how to get your field designated visit www.qe2fields.com or call 020 7427 2110.<br />
There are two strands to the fund, aimed at groups with different needs:</p>
<p><strong>The QEII Fields Volunteer Support Fund</strong><br />
Do you have an idea for improving your QEII Field, some volunteers and just need a bit of financial help or guidance to get started?<br />
SITA Trust can award up to a maximum of £5,000 for projects where it can be demonstrated that volunteers will be extensively involved in the delivery of a project to physically improve a QEII Field.  This could include site clearance, planting, fencing to make the field more healthy and sustainable or even materials to allow volunteers to make improvements to existing community buildings such as refurbishing or creating better access.</p>
<p><strong>The QEII Major Works Fund </strong>Can provide up to £25,000 for projects that have a volunteering element (see criteria above) but also require specialist contractors to perform certain work.<br />

<p><strong>Education Endowment Fund (EEF)</strong>The Education Endowment Fund is seeking applications for projects that address educational disadvantage. It is particularly looking for projects which can be developed, scaled up and replicated and which will have a measurable impact on attainment. In the first two years funding will be focused on children eligible for free school meals attending primary and secondary schools targeted for EEF funding.</p>
<p>The following organisations are eligible to apply:<br />
o	Registered charities.<br />
o	Not-for-profit organisations.<br />
o	Individual schools.<br />
o	Clusters of schools.<br />
o	Teacher groups.<br />
o	Universities.<br />
o	Colleges.<br />
o	Academy chains.<br />
o	Mutuals.<br />
o	Co-operatives.<br />
Any combination of the above can apply for funding. The smallest grant is likely to be around £50,000 per year. Projects should reach 100 pupils and preferably a number of schools.</p>
<p>Applications may be submitted at any time but there are three review points per year when they will be assessed. The next three review points are: 3 October 2011, 2 December 2011 and 30 March 2012.</p>

<p><strong>The Places People Play</strong>Inspired Facilities is part of The Places People Play programme is to deliver a London 2012 legacy of increased mass participation in sport, and is investing £50 million of National Lottery funding in up to 1000 community sports projects between 2011 and 2014.</p>
<p>The scheme is designed to support voluntary and public sector groups to refurbish and improve existing facilities, or develop an existing building for sports use in the community.</p>
<p>Eligible improvements must fall under the following headings:<br />
o	Building modernisation.<br />
o	Outdoor sports lighting.<br />
o	Outdoor sports surfaces and AdiZones.<br />
o	Modular buildings.<br />
o	Sports equipment.<br />
Community organisations and parish and town councils are eligible for grants ranging from £20,000 to £50,000, and 70% of the overall funding will be allocated to this category.</p>
<p>There will are five funding rounds, the first three being:<br />
1 August to 28 September 2011.<br />
1 February 2012 to 2 April 2012.<br />
23 July 2012 to 17 September 2012.<br />
Rounds four and five will take place in 2013 and 2014 and will be announced after the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.</p>

<p><strong>Land Aid </strong>– Training, Education &#038; Support Fund and Capital Projects Fund<br />
•	Training, Education and Support Fund<br />
Value: £5,000 &#8211; £25,000 &#8211; Deadline: 5.00pm, 31 August 2011<br />
For: Training, education or support programmes targeted at disadvantaged young people, this can include NEETS, homeless or those from a low income background. Projects should engage young people and lead to recognised qualifications (see UCAS) for list of accepted qualifications or employment. They do not fund programmes that solely deliver ESOL qualifications.</p>
<p><strong>Capital Projects Fund</strong>Value: £5,000 &#8211; £25,000 &#8211; Deadline: 5.00pm, 31 August 2011<br />
For: Refurbishment, conversion, extension or new build of facilities for young and disadvantaged people.  We especially look for projects that have an education or learning element. This can include hostel/foyers, community or youth centres and accommodation.</p>
<p>But not for… Salaries and other general revenue costs (except where they are specific to the project) or projects where the work has already taken place. We do not make grants to individuals.</p>

<p><strong>Launch of Team London’s Small Grants Programme</strong><br />
Team London’s Small Grants programme opens for applications on 15th July, with a closing date of 15th August.<br />
Worth £0.5 million, the programme targets small charities and voluntary and community organisations which use volunteering in order to create high social impact in their communities.<br />
Grants of up to £10,000 per organisation are available to fund activities that support one or more of the following three objectives:<br />
o	Increasing youth opportunity,<br />
o	Contributing to cutting crime,<br />
o	Improving quality of life<br />
Applicants will need to be able to:<br />
o	demonstrate they have the capacity to use volunteering to support small community projects<br />
o	deliver activities that will continue beyond the life of the grants programme and<br />
o	spend the Team London grant by April 2012.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Team London’s Small Grants programme</strong> opened for applications on 15th July, with a closing date of 15th August.<br />
Worth £0.5 million, the programme targets small charities and voluntary and community organisations which use volunteering in order to create high social impact in their communities.<br />
Grants of up to <strong>£10,000 </strong>per organisation are available to fund activities that support one or more of the following three objectives:<br />
• Increasing youth opportunity,<br />
• Contributing to cutting crime,<br />
• Improving quality of life<br />
Applicants will need to be able to:<br />
• demonstrate they have the capacity to use volunteering to support small community projects<br />
• deliver activities that will continue beyond the life of the grants programme and<br />
• <strong>spend the Team London grant by April 2012</strong>. </p>

The Architectural Heritage Fund has a project development grant available to help Building Preservation Trusts (BPTs) pay for the cost of developing and coordinating a heritage project. The maximum amount available per project is £20,000.</p>
