			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The centre for development and community welfare (CEDCOW) is currenlty seeking volunteers to work in our community crime project. The aim of this project is to engage especially BME parents and youths in reducing Knife and Gun crime in Newham.</p>
<p>Interested volunteers will help CEDCOW in organising a series of community activities including:  leaflets distribution, networking with BME youth groups, attending community events and organising workshops to sensitise and engage relevant stakeholders in Newham in reducing crime.</p>

<p>Experienced is not necessary as you will be supported in every task. BME youths are particularly welcomed.</p>

We are located within London Borough of Newham. Our aim is to combat the effects of domestic violence on adults and children and to raise awareness of the issue both locally and nationally.<br />
We are currently looking for dynamic and motivated individuals to commit themselves to this challenging role as trustees to give support to our staff and further develop this worthwhile organisation.<br />
We are looking for individuals who have experience in finance management and public relations, but primarily we need you to have time and commitment.<br />
In return for your motivation, time and commitment, a full induction training on trustee roles and responsibilities and if you wish, training on domestic violence issues are all available to you.</p>

Payments by Results </p>
<p>You are invited to a roundtable discussion session on payments by results as part of the Children England Families Strategic Partnership on the 30th January. The session will take place from 11-1pm and the venue will be at Children England. </p>
<p>Peter Griggs from the Family Parenting Institute will present their policy briefing on payments by results and organisations will offer their direct experience of delivering services using this mechanism. They&#8217;ll be working with a diverse Board of Trustees which includes people from all sectors and has a good balance of those who live locally and those from further afield.  And they will also work closely with the Senior Management Team to set the strategic direction of Community Links and then to support us to deliver.  </p>

Organisation background: </p>
<p>The Council of Somali Organisations is a company limited by guarantee, and is a newly formed organisation, currently hosted by Ocean Somali Community Association. To date it has been managed by an active and dedicated board of Trustees, and a separate advisory panel.<br />
Our vision is to achieve cohesive, integrated and successful Somali communities in London<br />
Our Mission is to provide a strong, collective and credible voice for the Somali communities in London and eventually, across the UK</p>
<p>We are currently in the process of recruiting up to 11 trustees with an interest in Community Development specifically in the Somali community </p>
<p><strong>Primary duties:</strong><br />
The Trustees will be required to lead the organisation in a visionary manner and be responsible for the overall development and fundraising strategy.<br />
The Trustees will be required to attend up to 8 management committee meetings for up to 2 hours during the daytime or evenings on a monthly or bi-monthly basis (to be agreed). </p>
<p>This is a voluntary role (without salary), however expenses will be paid for travel and there will be free trustee training (provided by a third party organisation). </p>
<p>You will not be expected to carryout any admin or managerial duties such as writing governance policies, this will be part of the Director duties, however, you and the management committee will be responsible for approving or reviewing such work produced by the Director.</p>
<p>To be eligible you must be over the age of 18 and a UK resident. You can be a representative of a voluntary/community organisation, representative of a business  or an individual with relevant skills and expertise.</p>
<p><strong>Required qualifications:</strong><br />
We require Trustees to be experienced in one or more of the following backgrounds:<br />
o	Setting targets, monitoring and evaluating performance in non-profit organisations<br />
o	Fundraising<br />
o	Budget preparation<br />
o	Financial management/financial monitoring<br />
o	Legal matters<br />
o	Human Resources<br />
o	Marketing and Communications<br />
o	Influencing policy and policy makers<br />
o	Community engagement<br />
o	You can think strategically and contribute towards the development of a clear strategic vision </p>
